Latest Updates from Our Project:

We did it!
about 2 years ago – Fri, Mar 25, 2022 at 09:02:15 AM

We can't say Thank You enough! SUM8 funded beyond our expectations and we are excited to get it into your hands.

So what now?

Production

We should be receiving our final pre-production samples this week so we can make final decisions on finishes for our Classic Edition. Our Wenge wood is in the shop, so we can start making our Kickstarter Editions soon. We have 25,200 pips to hand paint, so we better get going!

Pledge Manager

We are setting up Backerkit right now as our Pledge Manager. In Backerkit you will be able to add multiple copies of the Classic Edition (if you want more!) and manage your shipping address. We are planning to send out the initial survey at the beginning of May, once we have everything entered and any kinks worked out. (No additional funds will be charged until we are ready to ship.)

Shipping

As per our Kickstarter, you will not pay for shipping until we are close to the ship date. We have quotes from fulfillment centers, and we will continue to work on getting the prices as low as we can.

Pre-Order Store

If you have any friends that missed out on the Kickstarter, we have a Pre-order Store through Backerkit where you will still be able to get a copy of our Classic Edition. This is now accessible through our Kickstarter page.

That is it for now, we will keep you updated as we progress. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us through the message center or on our website, Turnupgames.com.

Last week!
about 2 years ago – Tue, Mar 15, 2022 at 10:39:14 PM

Hello everyone,

We are entering the last week of our campaign and could not be more thrilled with the progress. Thank you so much for your support and kind words and messages!

We are getting BackerKit all set up to use as our Pledge Manager once the campaign has finished. Kickstarter will collect your initial pledge when the campaign ends. You will then get an invitation to BackerKit where you will be able to add additional copies of the game and manage your shipping address up until we are ready to ship.

We are already working on getting final approvals with our manufacturer, so we can get the order started as soon as possible.

We are also adding a couple new components to the game - score disks and cubes! Instead of having to use paper and pencil we will be including two disks and cubes for you to keep score.

We are looking forward to getting these into your hands as soon as possible.

Thank you again,

Leanne and Iles

333% and a Question

333% funded and more to go!

We woke up today to being 333% funded! We are so thankful to all of you for supporting us for our first game launch - we have many more game ideas in the pipeline and can't wait to share them.

Rule Question: for our backers

Creating anything and putting it out into the world is a roller coaster ride – so scary and exciting at the same time. Getting feedback is an important part of creation, so we have a question for you!

At the end of SUM8 a player may have tiles left in their hand that they were unable to play. These tiles will be a deduction to the player’s score. We have some different thoughts on how the deduction could work:

  • 1) The total number of pips on the tiles would be the total deduction from the player’s score. This is based on dominos and what we had in our original rules. Some feedback from our playtesters was that this may be too high and may be a disadvantage to younger players.
  • 2) If the pips on the tile match (i.e. two on each end) that tile would be a 1 point deduction. If the pips on the tile add to 8 (i.e. three and five) that tile would be a 2 point deduction. If neither of the above is true there would be no deduction. This is what we currently have in our rules. It is a bit more work in determining the deductions, but not as big of a hit to your final score.
  • 3) The total number of tiles left is the deduction from a player’s score. This is the easiest way to calculate the deduction but requires a little less strategy.

Is there one that you would prefer to see in the rules? Would you prefer a bonus if you had no remaining tiles? Let us know your thoughts by commenting to this post, or in the comments section of the page.

Before we go, we wanted to let you know about a Kickstarter that we just backed. They are on their final days and it looks like it will be a lot of fun to play. What other games have giant bananas as weapons?

Kabula

Kabula is an adventure board game which takes a humorous twist on fantasy tropes. It offers a sandbox RPG experience, tameable monsters, absurd encounters and strategic combat.

Each game represents a self-conclusive adventure in which each player takes on the role of one human hero, summoned from modern Earth into a strange Island and firmly intentioned to fight for the possession of the Kabula tree, the Tree of Life.

If you back a physical pledge and subscribe to the Kabula newsletter at www.kabularpg.com, you will automatically get an extra hero entirely for free: Sister Chastity! The gift is valid only during the campaign and with physical pledges!

Fully Funded, and Kickstarter Edition now available worldwide!
about 2 years ago – Thu, Feb 17, 2022 at 07:04:50 PM

Thank you to all of our backers - we hit our funding goal in under 24 hours!

We are extremely excited that our first game is going to be played by supporters around the world.

Some more good news! We are making a change to our rewards: we are going to offer the Kickstarter Edition to be available anywhere in the world. We were originally concerned that since it is a wood-based product there would be issues shipping it into other countries. We have done some more research and have been assured by multiple sources that there should not be any issues with shipping.

Thank you again for your support – we are ‘GR8ful’! (Sorry, we will keep those ‘punnys’ to a minimum.)

Stay tuned for questions about some rules we would love your feedback on!
